Anyone with an interest in supporting young people is invited to a major roadshow taking place across Perth and Kinross next month to support local employers to access better skilled young people and to help their businesses grow.
The five-day programme is part of the Developing Young Workforce (DYW) initiative in the region, which will see around £500,000 invested in a package of measures locally over the next three years.
Around 150 people are expected to attend a series of events being held in Crieff, Perth, Kinross, Coupar Angus and Pitlochry to update employers on the region’s young workforce strategy.
The event will introduce the DYW support team for the area, show how the initiative can bring benefits to local businesses, hear from employers and young people already involved, and provide networking opportunities.
In Perth and Kinross, the DYW programme is focusing on encouraging more of the region’s 6,000 employers to offer work experience opportunities, promoting apprenticeships and helping ensure young people from all backgrounds have the right skills for the workplace.
Event locations for the regional roadshow programme are:
- Monday 12 June (10am-11.30am) – Crieff Hydro Hotel
- Tuesday 13 June (10am-11.30am) – Perth College UHI
- Wednesday 14 June (10am-11.30am) – Loch Leven’s Larder, Kinross
- Thursday 15 June (10am-11.30am) – The Red House Hotel, Coupar Angus
- Friday 16 June (10am-11.30am) – SSE Pitlochry Dam Visitor Centre
Businesses can register for the event by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org confirming who from their organisation can attend on which date.
A young workforce support team has been recruited to improve links between employers, schools and Perth College UHI. Led by Developing Young Workforce Manager Fiona Reith, the team also includes Employer Engagement Advisors Donna Kudarenko and John Robertson.
