Perthshire Chamber’s Star Awards 2018

Perthshire Chamber of Commerce kicked off the 2018 Business Star Awards at Crieff Hydro with the DYW Partnership Award; won by leading independent water retailer based in Blairgowrie, Castle Water, and Blairgowrie High School.

“Take the opportunity to work with schools” – John Reynolds

Castle Water have shown fantastic dedication, belief and passion in developing the young
workforce, making a great effort to bring local young people into their workplace. Their
partnership with Blairgowrie High School has allowed several pupils to gain insight and work inspiration from within Castle Water’s fast growing business, including one pupil who has secured a full time job following her placement! Castle Water also went home with Business of the Year Award and Business Growth Award!

The Modern Apprentice of the Year Award, sponsored by Perth College UHI, was received by Liam Boyle from Balfour Beatty. Liam credited his transformative learning and working experience to mentor, Ken Brown, who has been a great advocate of DYW Perth & Kinross campaign, #LearnALiving.

Congratulations to #LearnALiving supporter, Loch Leven’s Larder on winning Independent Retailer of the Year Award! Sponsored by ACS Aviation, who have also been a fantastic inspiration for local businesses in offering work placements to our young people.
Congratulations to our DYW Partnership finalists, Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels and Crieff High School, Perthshire Glazing and Perth High School, and Balfour Beatty and Perth Academy.
Choosing one winner was almost impossible, with the fantastic efforts from across the region in our secondary schools!
