A tragic New Year’s Day crash in Preston leaves two teens dead and others injured, prompting an arrest of a 17-year-old driver.
The accident happened around 1:20 AM on Staithes Road when a grey VW Golf and a black Vauxhall Grandland collided. It was a shocking start to the year for the community.
Sadly, a 16-year-old boy died at the scene, while an 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital but later passed away. Two other passengers, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were also hospitalized.
The girl is in critical but stable condition, and the boy is serious but stable. A 62-year-old man in the Vauxhall was treated for injuries that are no longer life-threatening, and the 34-year-old female driver suffered a badly injured arm.
The police arrested the 17-year-old driver of the Volkswagen on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He’s been released on bail as investigations continue.
