Preston: A 17-year-old boy is in trouble after a horrific crash on New Year’s Day that left two teens dead. It all went down around 1:20 AM.
According to the police, a grey Volkswagen Golf was driving on Staithes Road when it collided with a black Vauxhall Grandland. Sadly, a 16-year-old boy died right there at the scene.
Another young man, 18 years old, was rushed to the hospital but didn’t make it. Two other passengers were hurt too; a 16-year-old girl is in critical but stable condition, while a 17-year-old boy is serious but stable.
On the other side, a 62-year-old man in the Vauxhall was hospitalized but his injuries aren’t life-threatening. A 34-year-old woman in the same car has a bad arm injury, but thankfully, two others only had minor injuries.
The police spokesperson mentioned that the 17-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He’s been released on bail while they continue their investigation.
They’re asking anyone who might have seen the crash or has dashcam footage to reach out. It’s a tough time for the families involved, and the police are providing support.
