We hosted, along with Historic Environment Scotland, Springboard’s Hospitality & Tourism Takeover day at Stanley Mills on Oct 25th!
70 language pupils from S3 in Perth & Kinross were given the opportunity to learn about the various job roles where language is a key value. Pupils also enjoyed practical activities which displayed the real-life skills which are valuable to this industry.
‘The variety of workshops helped with the impressive levels of interaction from pupils. Keynote speakers at the beginning of the day were great for pupils to hear!’
We were joined by Creiff Hydro, The Crannog Centre, Costa Coffee, SCILT and The Blackwatch Museum. With keynote speeches from Anne Kinnes, of The Blackwatch Museum and Dr Meryl James, from SCILT (Scotland’s National Centre for Languages).
More than half of the pupils said they would now consider a career in Hospitality & Tourism, and would be interested in taking part in a similar event in the future!
‘I liked the range of topics and workshops that took place. I especially liked the ‘language’ the adults used to convey the importance of willingness to learn, attitude and hard work.’
