In November, NHS Tayside brought The Healthcare Experience to Perth & Kinross. They gave 18 local pupils a real-life insight into working in areas such as medicine, occupational therapy, nursing and physiotherapy as well as pharmacy, social work, and speech & language therapy.
The pupils worked in a simulated ward where they cared for patients, posed by volunteers, and assessed their needs and abilities. The pupils worked together in discussing treatment plans for each patient.
Pupils interested in a profession within the healthcare industry were selected to be involved based on their applications.
Participating schools included Breadablane Academy, The Community School of Auchterarder, Crieff High School, Kinross High School, Perth Academy, Perth High School, St Johns RC Academy and Perth Grammar.
This is was just the beginning of our work with NHS Tayside, and we look forward to sharing more health & social care focused projects in the future!
