London: A man tragically lost his life after being hit by a car that was driving on the wrong side of the road on Christmas Day. Aidan Chapman, just 25, passed away in the hospital on New Year’s Eve, six days after the accident on Shaftesbury Avenue, close to Leicester Square.

His parents are heartbroken, saying losing Aidan is every parent’s worst nightmare. They described him as a loving and funny person who brought joy to everyone around him. They feel like the world is a darker place without him.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley shared that their thoughts are with Aidan’s family and friends during this tough time. He mentioned that the investigation is ongoing, but it’s confirmed that this was an isolated incident and not related to terrorism.

They’re asking anyone with CCTV, dash cam, or mobile footage from that night to come forward. They also want to hear from anyone who might have interacted with the suspect.

In the meantime, Anthony Gilheaney, 30, has been charged with several serious offenses, including attempted murder. He appeared in court and is set to return to the Old Bailey later this month. The charges against him will be reviewed following Aidan’s death.

If you have any information, the police are urging you to reach out. You can call them or send a message with any details you might have.
