Perth’s council is prioritizing three vacant properties for redevelopment in hopes of revitalizing the city center
Perth: Exciting news for the city! The council is finally tackling some of those long-vacant eyesores. One of the biggest focuses is the old Love’s auction house on Canal Street. It’s been empty for over 15 years, but talks are underway to clean it up and possibly turn it into housing or a community arts space.
They’re also looking at the former McEwens department store, which has become a real eyesore. It’s been empty for a while now, and the council is keen to find a way to bring it back to life. The building is in pretty rough shape, so they’re working on plans to help the owners get it sorted.
Then there’s the site of the old Clachan Bar and Quality Cafe, which was demolished last year. The council is figuring out what to do with that space now that it’s cleared. There’s talk of possibly building new council housing there, which could be a great addition to the area.
Overall, it looks like 2025 could be a big year for these properties. The council is hopeful for some positive changes, and it’s about time these spots got the attention they deserve!
