The beloved Rotary Swimarathon returns to Grantham, promising fun and fundraising from February 7 to 9 at the Meres Leisure Centre
Grantham: The 36th Rotary Swimarathon is just around the corner! It’s happening from February 7 to 9 at the Meres Leisure Centre. This annual event is all about swimming and raising money for good causes.
Roger Graves, the lead organizer, is really excited about it. He’s been praising everyone involved for their commitment and enthusiasm. It’s a big deal, with nearly 1,300 swimmers and tons of volunteers making sure everything goes off without a hitch.
Last year was a record-breaker, raising over £52,000 and pushing the total raised since 1990 past the £1 million mark. That’s incredible! The funds have helped improve Grantham, funding things like outdoor gyms and play equipment in local parks.
This year, they’re also looking to add some keep-fit facilities in Dysart Park. Roger believes these projects will benefit the town for years to come.
Teams of up to six swimmers will take part in a 50-minute relay, all while raising money for charity. So far, 228 teams are signed up, but there are still four spots left if anyone wants to join in.
