Mildenhall: So, here’s the scoop. The A11 is going to be closed overnight for some much-needed repairs. This is happening between Red Lodge and Barton Mills, and it’s going to last for a few weeks.

National Highways kicked off the repair work on Wednesday. They’re replacing concrete surfaces and fixing up those pesky potholes and cracks that have been bothering drivers.

Now, for the bulk of the work, they’ll need to close the road overnight. A spokesperson mentioned that the southbound lane will be shut from January 13 to January 28.

Don’t worry too much, though. The closures will only happen from 8 PM to 6 AM, Monday to Friday. So, if you’re planning to travel, just keep that in mind.

There’s a diversion route set up. Motorists will be directed off the A11 at Elveden, then they’ll take London Road, Elveden Road, and Station Road before hopping onto the A134 at Barnham.

From there, they’ll head south towards Bury St Edmunds and get on the A14 westbound at junction 43. If you need to go north on the A11, just exit the A14 at junction 34.

After the southbound work wraps up, they’ll also close the northbound route from January 29 to February 3, again only overnight. The same diversion will be in place, just flipped around.
