Alfons Kojku, 37, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges linked to cocaine supply in Suffolk
Newmarket: On May 18, 2024, police stopped a silver Hyundai as it rolled into Suffolk on the A14. They were on the lookout for something suspicious.
The driver, Alfons Kojku, was pulled over for a drug search. Officers found two mobile phones and a stash of cash during the check.
Kojku, 37, from London Road in Peterborough, faced charges for supplying cocaine and driving without a proper license. Not a good day for him.
While he was in custody, the police dug into the data on his phones. They found links to a larger cocaine supply operation in Suffolk.
It turns out this wasn’t his first run-in with the law. Officers connected this case to a previous stop in Essex where he hadn’t been charged yet.
Thanks to teamwork with Essex police, they charged him with more offenses related to cocaine supply dating back to 2023.
Kojku was held in custody and appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on January 3. He pleaded guilty and got a five-year sentence. The judge also ordered the police to keep the £2,010 they seized.
Sergeant George Laflin from the West Area Sentinel Team said this sentencing sends a strong message. They’re serious about tackling organized crime and drug dealing in the community.
He added that the collaboration with Essex police helped achieve this outcome. Now, Kojku will be spending a good chunk of time behind bars.
