Alishan Restaurant Review: Delicious Food, Great Options, and Good Prices

I really enjoy Indian food, especially on cold days. My mom and I visited Alishan in Wisbech before and liked it, so I wanted to take my dad. We booked a table for Wednesday at 7:30 pm, which was their banquet night, and the food is served on hot plates.

The restaurant was busy when we arrived. We waited about ten minutes for a table, but a nice waiter greeted us right away. He sat us near the bar while we waited and took our drink orders. I ordered water, Mom had Coke, and Dad got beer.

Our table was in a corner, and it was hard hearing each other because of the noise. The restaurant was attracting many customers. The waiter took our food orders, since it was banquet night. We got a starter, main, side, and rice for £17 each.

I ordered my favorite, chicken korma, along with boiled rice and Sag Aloo, which is spinach and potatoes. My starter was vegetable samosas, and I added a peshwari naan for 90p extra.

Dad chose the chicken vindaloo since he likes spicy food and ordered it with special Alishan rice. His side was onion bhajee, and he had mixed kebab for his starter. He also ordered garlic naan for 90p extra.

Mom ordered chicken tikka with pilau rice, and her side dish was also onion bhajee. She chose chicken chat puri as her starter and got garlic naan for 90p. We were hungry and excited for our food.

The wait for our starters felt long, as they arrived thirty minutes after we ordered. The portions were a good size for each of us. I liked the vegetable samosas, and the salad garnish was a nice touch.

Dad enjoyed his mixed kebabs on a sizzling plate and said they tasted very juicy. Mom liked her chicken chat puri a lot and said it was just as good as before.

The waiter cleared our starter plates and put down hot plates for our main courses. We then waited another thirty minutes, which was too long in my opinion.

Our mains and sides came, and they placed the food in the middle of the table. The hot plates kept our food warm, and the food was worth the long wait. Our curries were creamy and fresh, and the portions were generous. My curry was enough for two, and I found my new favorite naan, peshwari. It tasted amazing but was very filling.

Mom and Dad liked their curries. Mom said the onion bhajee was greasy and not as crispy as before, and Dad concurred she was right. He said it tasted nice dipped in curry though.

Our bill was £59.90. We got three starters, curries, and rice dishes, plus three sides, three naans, and three drinks. This was a good price for the food we received.

Overall, we recommend Alishan, and we will go back to enjoy their food.

I rated it like this: Food was 4/5 as there were many choices and it was yummy, Drinks were 4/5 because it had good, if simple, variety, Decor was 4/5 because the simple decor fit the theme, Staff was 5/5 as they were polite and friendly, and Price was 4/5 because it was very reasonable.
