The Alma Tavern in Worcester is temporarily shut down after a gas leak was detected, leaving the pub without heating and hot water.
Worcester: The Alma Tavern on Droitwich Road is closed today because of a gas leak. It happened suddenly, and now the pub has no heating.
Last night, an emergency engineer came out to check things out. They found a leak but couldn’t pinpoint where it was coming from. Another engineer is scheduled to come today to investigate further. Staff are saying it’s a toss-up whether they’ll be open tomorrow.
William Bradley, one of the managers, mentioned that they noticed a strong gas smell and immediately called for help. The engineer confirmed there was a leak, and they’re worried it might be hidden in the walls.
They rely on gas for heating, and since their kitchen runs on electricity, the gas also heats the water for handwashing. Without it, they can’t serve customers comfortably, so they decided to close.
They’re hoping to get it sorted out soon, but for now, it’s a waiting game. If you’re curious about their status, keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.
