A tragic car accident claimed a child’s life as severe weather warnings are issued for snow and ice across England and Wales
Grantham: It’s been a tough time with the weather lately. Amber weather warnings are out for snow and ice, and sadly, a baby boy lost his life in a car crash on the A1. The temperatures dropped to a chilling -7.4C, making driving conditions really dangerous.
They’re predicting up to 40cm of snow in parts of northern England this weekend. The Met Office is warning us about icy roads and possible snow drifts. It’s definitely not a good time to be out and about.
In Scotland, things aren’t looking much better. Three hillwalkers had to be rescued in the Cairngorms after getting into trouble in the snow. Thankfully, they’re all safe now, but it just shows how quickly things can go wrong in this weather.
The crash that took the baby’s life happened when a car lost control and hit a tree. It’s under investigation to see if the freezing conditions played a part. The poor little one was taken to the hospital but sadly didn’t make it.

Bus services in Orkney were cancelled after a bus went off the road, and the railway line between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh is closed due to floods. It’s a mess out there!
