Andrew Waghorn, 31, has been sentenced for removing a condom without consent during sexual encounters, marking a significant legal case in Scotland.
Dundee: A man named Andrew Waghorn has been sentenced to over six years in prison for some pretty serious crimes. He was found guilty of removing a condom during sex without his partner’s consent, a practice known as “stealthing.” This makes him one of the few in Scotland to face prosecution for this kind of act.
Waghorn, who’s 31, denied any wrongdoing during his trial but was convicted of raping two women. The first incident happened back in 2014 at a hotel in Fife after a wedding. The second case occurred in 2020 in Dundee, where he also removed the condom without consent.
The court heard some disturbing details about how he treated his victims. In one instance, he forcibly moved a woman’s hand away before continuing with non-consensual sex. The judge noted that this act involved a degree of force, which is really alarming.
Waghorn had a history of abusive behavior, including a previous conviction for domestic abuse against one of his victims. His actions included controlling her movements and even threatening her with a knife. It’s clear he posed a significant danger to those around him.
After hearing all the evidence, the judge sentenced him to six years and one month in prison and placed him on the sex offenders’ register for life. The police have stated that they hope this conviction brings some comfort to the victims, who have endured a lot.
