An AO van became wedged under a bridge in Basingstoke. Deliveries will continue with minimal disruption. The driver is safe.
AO assured people their parcels are coming and will use another van for deliveries, keeping disruptions minimal. An AO person confirmed the driver is okay and nobody else got hurt. The van had few deliveries left. They will move items to another van, limiting impacts to customers. AO apologized for the traffic mess.
The underpass remains closed now. The delivery crew needs to make twelve more stops. Recovery is coming from Fareham, but they don’t know when they will arrive.
Deflating the tires did not free the van. Someone saw a truck drive by, but that driver did not offer help.
Police stated the underpass is shut off Churchill Way East because a vehicle is trapped under the bridge. They closed the slip road and Festival Place car park is also closed. Police don’t know how long it will stay shut. The company plans for vehicle recovery. Police officers are no longer at the scene.
