JPS Fuels is appealing a council decision that denied their planning application in Crookham Common due to location concerns
Crookham Common: So, there’s this appeal happening against West Berkshire Council. They turned down a planning application from JPS Fuels, a heating oil supplier. The plan was to convert some agricultural land into storage space.
The council said the site was “poorly located” and didn’t have enough infrastructure for workers to get there without driving. They were worried it would cause a lot of extra traffic in a quiet rural area.
JPS Fuels applied last November, but the council wasn’t having it. They even claimed that work had started on the site when their officers checked it out, which JPS Fuels disputes.
Jonathan Pinnock, the owner, insists that the vehicles on the site weren’t being used commercially. He’s pretty adamant that they didn’t start using the site for business yet, which is why they didn’t want to change their application to a retrospective one.
The appeal will be decided based on written comments, so if anyone wants to chime in, they need to send their thoughts to the Planning Inspectorate by February 11. Late comments won’t be looked at, so it’s a bit of a race against time!
