Drivers in Arbroath will experience six months of disruption as a £14m travel scheme progresses at the harbour
Arbroath: Drivers are in for a rough ride as the town’s £14 million travel scheme kicks into high gear. Starting soon, there will be six months of disruption at the marina entrance.
The harbour roundabout is getting a makeover, turning into a signal-controlled junction. This is all part of the plan to redesign the A92 and make it safer for everyone.
But that’s not all. Another street, which is the main access to Ladyloan Primary School, will be closed for four months. So, parents will need to find alternative routes for drop-offs and pick-ups.
As for the harbour entrance, it’s going to be a ‘left in/left out’ setup. No right turns allowed, which means traffic will only come in from the south. Leaving the harbour? You’ll head west along the A92.
This new arrangement is set to last until July, so buckle up for some changes. On the other side of the roundabout, East Mary Street will also be closed, but footpaths will stay open for pedestrians.
The council is asking everyone to be patient and considerate of the construction crew. They’re working hard to keep traffic flowing smoothly through Arbroath, using one-way systems and local diversions instead of temporary traffic lights.
Funded by Sustrans and Angus Council, this project started back in April 2024. It aims to create better cycleways and pedestrian spaces, along with some nice green areas. But, as with any big project, not everyone is on board with the changes.
