Catterick: So, there’s this Army Major, Robin Dews, who got into some serious trouble at a Christmas party. He was caught groping a junior officer while dancing, and it was all pretty shocking.

He was at this Apres-ski-themed bash in December 2022 when he decided to get a little too friendly. He approached the woman with his arms up and then made a move that left everyone stunned.

Dews, who’s been in the Army for 24 years and is also a qualified nurse, faced a court martial and ended up with a conviction for sexual assault. He got a six-month suspended sentence last year, which really put a damper on his career.

Fast forward to last month, and a Nursing and Midwifery Tribunal had to decide what to do with him. They agreed he should face some consequences but didn’t kick him out of the nursing profession entirely. Instead, they gave him a two-month suspension.

During the tribunal, they talked about how Dews had shown remorse and had been working on himself. He even had his wife backing him up through the whole process.

Despite the serious nature of his actions, the panel felt he wasn’t a repeat offender and that he had learned from his mistakes. They decided that a temporary suspension was enough to protect the public while still allowing him to return to nursing.

Since August 2023, he hasn’t been able to work due to an interim suspension he put on himself. Now, he’s looking at getting back into nursing this Spring.
