Farm owners near Beoley challenge council notices about noise and light pollution after complaints from local residents.
Mike and Sue Attwell run the farm. They are eighty and seventy-nine, respectively. The council sent them legal notices. These notices told them to change their hours and turn off the lights at night.
The council said their farm was a “nuisance.” This falls under a law about antisocial behavior. People said the Christmas lights made “light pollution,” and also mentioned noise issues, including loud music and shouting.
Ollie Arundale is a farm director. He said the notices upset the owners. They are now challenging the orders.
They must use money for lawyers that they could have used for improvements. This includes jobs and accessibility as costs are rising in 2025, too.
The order threatens special evening events that help people with autism. Organizations like Acorns Hospice support them. The evenings offer jobs and safe fun.
Arundale said the legal fight hurts the Attwells and impacts their health a lot. They will keep fighting for the farm.
The council says residents complained regarding events there because the farm’s actions negatively affect them. They see it as unreasonable behavior.
The council cannot comment right now. They cited legal reasons for that.
