BBC Scotland is set to debut its new News at Seven programme, replacing The Nine and aiming for a fresh approach to local news.
Glasgow: So, BBC Scotland is shaking things up a bit! They’re launching a new show called News at Seven tonight. It’s replacing The Nine, which didn’t quite hit the mark with viewers.
The Nine was around for a while, but its ratings kept dropping. It started in 2019, but by 2023, it was only pulling in about 101,000 viewers. Ouch! The last episode aired in December, and now they’re ready for a fresh start.
News at Seven will be a half-hour show airing at 7 PM on weekdays. It’s meant to be more casual and will focus on stories from communities all over Scotland. Sounds like a nice change, right?
Laura Maciver and Amy Irons will be the faces of the new show. Laura has been around, hosting The Nine before, and Amy is excited to join the team. They both want to bring real stories and voices from the community to the screen.
So, if you’re in Scotland, tune in to BBC Scotland starting January 6. You can catch it on Freeview, Sky, Freesat, and Virgin Media. It’ll be interesting to see how this new format works out!
