Birmingham: So, there’s been a bit of a mess in Birmingham lately with the bin strikes. The city council has decided to change some rules to help with the rubbish piling up.

They’re now allowing residents to put extra bags of waste next to their wheelie bins. This is usually something they only do after Christmas when people have more rubbish than usual.

But there are a few things to keep in mind. You need to use black bags for the extra waste and make sure they’re placed right next to your regular bin.

Also, don’t forget to keep the bin lids closed. This helps prevent any damage and keeps things tidy. They’ll only take a reasonable amount of extra waste each week, though.

The strikes are happening because about 350 workers are unhappy with the council’s decision to cut certain roles, which they say are really important for safety.

These workers have been with the council for years, so it’s a big deal for them. The council has said they’ll collect the extra waste during this strike period, which is a relief for many.

Just a heads up, the strike dates are set for January 6, 14, 22, and 30, with more dates in February and March. So, if you’re in Birmingham, keep an eye on your bins!
