A Birmingham shop was raided, leading to the seizure of illegal vapes and unlicensed drugs valued at £1 million
Erdington: So, you won’t believe what just happened in Birmingham! A shop got raided, and the police found a ton of illegal stuff. We’re talking about thousands of illegal vapes and unlicensed drugs, all worth around a million pounds!
This big bust went down on December 30, and it was one of the largest seizures ever. They pulled out over 7,500 vapes, 134 kilograms of tobacco, and nearly 330,000 cigarettes. Crazy, right?
The police discovered all this hidden behind a fake wall in the shop and even in a flat with a metal door. It’s wild to think about how much illegal stuff was stashed away like that.
West Midlands Police are still digging into this case with Trading Standards. They’ve got a few people they’re questioning, trying to get to the bottom of it all.
Det Insp Tom Lyons mentioned how important it is to work together to stop the flow of these illegal goods. He pointed out that counterfeit tobacco and unapproved drugs can be really dangerous.
And Councillor Sam Forsyth added that this seizure shows how committed everyone is to keeping the community safe. They’re all about tackling organized crime and making sure these harmful products don’t end up on the streets.
