The search for missing British hikers in Italy has led to the discovery of a body believed to be Samuel Harris, raising concerns for his friend.
Tione Di Trento: The charity linked to one of the missing British hikers has confirmed they are aware of reports about Sam Harris’s body being found. They expressed their devastation and extended their sympathies to his family.
Palace for Life, the charity from Crystal Palace Football Club, shared their sorrow over the news. They mentioned that they have no updates on his hiking partner, Aziz Ziriat.
Sam, 35, and Aziz, 36, were hiking in the Dolomites and hadn’t been heard from since January 1. They missed their flight home, which raised alarms.
The last place they were seen was near a mountain hut called Casina Dosson, close to Riva Del Garda. Italian rescue teams found Sam’s body under the snow at the base of a rock face.
Rescue teams had been searching after tracking one of their phones. They mentioned that it’s possible Sam fell from above, but the investigation is still ongoing.
Search efforts for Aziz were paused due to bad weather but will continue. Both families have been kept in the loop about the situation.
A friend of Aziz said they were both experienced hikers who enjoyed exploring off the beaten path. However, the lack of contact raised serious concerns among their loved ones.
Before the body was discovered, friends and family were anxiously waiting for updates, knowing that the next few hours were critical.
