Bradford College teams up with Screen Yorkshire for an exciting film project, giving students hands-on experience in filmmaking and industry insights
Bradford: Students at Bradford College recently had a fantastic opportunity to dive into filmmaking. With support from Screen Yorkshire, they spent a week creating their own films.
They planned, filmed, edited, and presented their projects, all leading up to a private screening at Bradford’s Light Cinema. It was a fun competition where students got to vote for their favorite film.
The winning film will even be showcased at the Spirit of Independence Festival in Sheffield this September. How cool is that?
Throughout the week, industry pros like Richard Knight and Dan Shaw from Screen Yorkshire were there to guide the students. They shared valuable insights and tips, making the experience even richer.
Richard mentioned that Screen Yorkshire aims to support local talent and help students prepare for careers in the film industry. He emphasized that it’s okay if students aren’t sure about their specific career paths yet.
The project was part of the creative arts curriculum for students aged 16-18 at Bradford School of Art. It encouraged teamwork across different disciplines, just like they’ll need to do in the real world.
Screen Yorkshire has been a key player in supporting film and TV production in the region since 2003. They’ve invested in some iconic British productions, helping to boost the local industry.
