A Brisbane man faces serious charges after allegedly displaying a sign inciting violence against minority groups, sparking outrage and police action.
The police acted quickly, raiding his home in Morningside and seizing the sign, along with a computer and a phone. It’s pretty shocking stuff.
He’s set to appear in court soon, facing charges that include serious vilification based on race, religion, and other identities, plus serious assault and obstructing police.
Footage from the raid shows the sign in action, and it’s clear it targeted multiple minority and religious groups.
Assistant Commissioner Charysse Pond made it clear that the police won’t tolerate any incitement of violence or hatred in the community.
She emphasized that there’s no room for antisemitism or any form of prejudice. Thanks to new laws in Queensland, serious vilification and hate crimes are now treated as criminal offenses, and the police are ready to take action against offenders.
