Bromley residents face penalties as HMRC names tax defaulters in a recent report
Bromley: So, the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has just dropped a new list of tax defaulters, and it’s quite the eye-opener. They do this every three months, naming those who’ve messed up their tax returns.
The latest list came out in late November 2024, and it’s not pretty. A lot of folks are getting hit with fines for either messing up their tax filings or just ignoring their tax duties altogether.
Let’s dive into the names from Bromley that made the list. First up, we have Nazim Uddin Ahmed from Hayes Lane. He’s looking at a hefty fine of £27,564.29 for not reporting over £50,000 in property income from 2013 to 2017.
Then there’s Joinkas Limited, a joinery company in West Wickham. They racked up a fine of £70,406.29 for not accounting for over £105,000 in tax from 2021 to 2023. Ouch!
The White Swan pub in Orpington also got caught in the crossfire, facing a penalty of £15,837.82 for not reporting about £28,000 in tax from early 2019.
And it doesn’t stop there. Eko Food Market, also in Orpington, was slapped with a massive fine of £154,920 for failing to report the same amount in tax from 2018 to 2020. That’s a big hit!
Lastly, we have Martyn Eric Heath, who lives in Orpington. He’s been fined £33,634.70 for not accounting for nearly £76,000 in rental income tax from 2013 to 2021. It’s a tough lesson for all of them.
