Charlie’s Fish and Chips has had a bustling opening week, delighting locals with its fresh offerings and friendly service
Devizes: Charlie’s Fish and Chips opened its doors on December 30, taking over the old Fry’s Fish and Chips spot. It’s the latest addition to the Charlie’s family, which already runs a few other eateries in town.
Dogan Bilgic, part of the Charlie’s crew, shared that the first week has been a pleasant surprise. They’ve been busier than expected, and even on a Monday afternoon, the place was buzzing with customers.
People seem to love the fresh food, and they’re happy to wait a bit for it. Dogan mentioned that they’re serving generous portions at fair prices, which has already brought in a bunch of repeat customers.
The menu features classic chippy favorites like cod, plaice, and homemade gravy, all made from scratch. There’s room for 16 diners, plus takeaway options for those on the go.
Interestingly, the previous owner of Fry’s was thrilled to see the new venture take off, reminiscing about her family’s history in the business. Customers have been raving about the food online, calling it the best fish they’ve had in the city.
Charlie’s Fish and Chips is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 10 pm, but they take Sundays off to recharge.
