Jenny Rowlands, Camden Council’s chief executive, will step down at summer’s end after joining in 2015.
In a statement, she thanked the council, praised residents and councillors, and also thanked her coworkers. She believes working there was a privilege.
She said Camden is an amazing place where people care for each other and fight unfairness, providing good services. They built an organization focused on people, where relationships and power-sharing are key, allowing it to keep up with Camden’s citizens’ energy.
They listened to their staff and together made changes to leadership. The leadership now reflects diverse communities; this is a lasting change.
Rowlands is excited for the future and wants to see the organization grow and contribute nationally. She has always worked in public service, and working with communities remains her calling.
She feels privileged to work with Camden people. Partners, councillors, and staff met every challenge showing humility and commitment as their passion will stay with her.
Rowlands will stay until a replacement is found, as they are searching for a permanent successor and the recruitment process is underway.
