A burglar was caught on CCTV stealing £10.4 million worth of jewellery from a London mansion owned by an Instagram influencer
London: So, there was this wild burglary in Primrose Hill where a guy was caught on CCTV stuffing a whopping £10.4 million worth of jewellery into a rucksack. Crazy, right?
The place belongs to Shafira Huang, an Instagram influencer, and her husband. This all went down on December 7 when a masked intruder decided to break in. He must have been pretty bold because there were some staff members in the house at the time.
Apparently, this guy used a ladder to get in. The CCTV footage shows him grabbing handfuls of jewellery and designer bags like he was on a shopping spree. He spent about 19 minutes rummaging through the place, cracking a safe and checking out two floors of the mansion.
It turns out he might have even pretended to be a potential buyer of a nearby property just to scope out the layout before making his move. A family spokesman said he moved “like a cat,” which sounds pretty sneaky.
He first tried to get in through a second-floor window but failed. So, he climbed onto the roof and squeezed through a bathroom window. The family was in a meeting downstairs, and they thought the banging they heard was just the wind.
While he was in the house, he almost bumped into a maid! Talk about close calls. He struggled a bit with the jewellery boxes but eventually managed to fill his bag.
He even tried to escape through a window but couldn’t get it open because of the safety features. Besides the jewellery, he also made off with some fancy handbags and cash. The police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to come forward.
They’re offering a £500,000 reward for info that leads to the burglar’s arrest. It’s a wild story, and it makes you think about how careful we need to be with our stuff!
