Cheltenham: The Smith brothers, who run Smiths of Bourton, are in the finals of the National Burger Awards. They’re up against some serious competition, with 16 of the best burgers in the UK battling it out.

This event is going to be a blast! Chefs from all over, including restaurants and street food vendors, will be cooking live. A panel of expert judges will pick the winners, and there’s an awards ceremony to wrap it all up.

This year’s finalists include some big names like Patty & Bun and Tom Kerridge’s Butcher’s Tap and Grill, along with Cheltenham’s own Smiths of Bourton. It’s going to be exciting to see who comes out on top!

Seb and Theo Smith, the brothers behind the restaurant, are thrilled to be part of this event. They said they’re honored to be included among such well-known names and can’t wait to show off their burgers.

The competition, sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery, is happening at Big Penny Social in Walthamstow on February 11. The chefs will cook their signature burgers and take on a technical challenge to create the ultimate burger using sponsor ingredients.

Plus, there’s a plant-based burger round sponsored by Redefine Meat. And let’s not forget the Freakshake Challenge, where other chefs will compete to see who can make the best shake in the UK.

Genna Ash-Brown, the editor of Dine Out magazine, is excited about the event. She says it’s a great way to celebrate British burgers and can’t wait to see what the talented chefs will bring to the table.

The National Burger Awards 2025 is shaping up to be an amazing event, and with all the sponsors involved, it’s sure to be a hit!
