Cheshire Police arrested 310 individuals in Warrington over the Christmas period to ensure public safety and tackle crime.
Warrington: Cheshire Police were busy this Christmas, making a total of 1,752 arrests across the county. They aimed to keep everyone safe during the festive season.
These arrests included serious offenses like assault, drink or drug driving, theft, and criminal damage. The police were really focused on tackling anti-social behavior and violence against women.
Throughout December, officers were out in full force, especially in busy areas, to ensure that everyone could enjoy their Christmas without worry.
They also set up checkpoints to catch drink and drug drivers, leading to 224 arrests for those offenses alone. It was a serious crackdown.
The special constabulary played a big role too, with volunteers stepping up to help keep the community safe. On December 20, 19 special constables were on duty in Warrington town center.
Chief Inspector Jamie Lewis emphasized the importance of thinking before acting, reminding everyone that while most had a safe Christmas, some chose to break the law.
He reassured the community that the police would keep working hard to ensure safety, not just during the holidays but all year round.
He also thanked all the officers and volunteers who sacrificed their time with family to keep Cheshire safe. If anyone has been a victim of crime, they should report it by calling 101 or visiting the police website.
