Coleg Cambria students excelled in the British Physics Olympiad, winning multiple medals and commendations
A team of seven from Yale Sixth earned two commendations, three bronze medals, one silver, and one gold. Louis Jones from Gwersyllt won the gold medal.
The students tackled two tough exam papers. They competed against over 3,700 learners from 550 schools across the UK.
Lecturer Rob Jones expressed pride in the students. He noted that participating in this competition is a big deal in physics education.
He said, “To receive medals and achieve a gold is amazing. They have worked hard and are among the top young physicists in the UK.”
The British Physics Olympiad is managed by a committee and many volunteer physics teachers.
New teachers can get involved in various ways, like writing questions or mentoring students.
