Essex: Two children tragically died in a hit-and-run crash. A boy and a girl were struck by a car on Ashlyns in Pitsea around 6:25 PM on Saturday. The driver did not stop after the collision.

The victims were a nine-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy. Despite emergency services’ efforts, they could not be saved. The local community came together to pay their respects.

On Sunday, about 20 people, including children, gathered at the crash site. They left flowers and heartfelt messages at the junction of Ashlyns and Walthams. One card expressed sorrow for their loss, saying they were taken too young.

Another card read, “You will never be forgotten.” Locals mentioned that one child was in secondary school. A teacher left a card for “Roman,” calling him a “good kid” and a joy to teach.

Essex Police have arrested a man and a woman. They are suspected of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop. Both remain in custody as investigations continue.

Police are asking for any CCTV or dashcam footage related to the incident. They want to gather more information about what happened.

In a statement, a police official expressed condolences to the families. They assured that specialist officers are supporting them during this difficult time.
