Join the community on January 18 to plant 2,000 trees and enhance local wildlife habitats
Gilsland: There’s an exciting tree planting day coming up! Organized by the Natural World Fund, the goal is to plant 2,000 trees to boost wildlife habitats.
It’s happening on Saturday, January 18, and everyone is invited to lend a hand. Volunteers from all over are welcome to help restore the land on the Northumberland-Cumbria border.
This is a great chance to connect with nature and meet new folks in the community. You’ll be planting a mix of native trees like willow, alder, and birch along some gullies.
The planting site is just a short walk through farmland, leading onto moorland. It’s a lovely spot to spend the day outdoors!
While the event is open to all, there are a few access restrictions, so it’s best to reach out if you have any questions.
All the tools and guidance you need will be provided. Just remember to bring your own gloves, a packed lunch, and a hot drink to keep you warm.
Sturdy boots and suitable clothing are also a good idea. This project is in partnership with Living Woods, and you can get more info by emailing volunteering@living-woods.org.uk.
Participants will receive final details and directions before the event. The tree planting will run from 10 am to 3 pm at Wardrew Farm, Gilsland.
Best of all, it’s free to join! If you’re interested, you can register at naturalworldfund.com/volunteer-tree-planting-day-saturday-18th-january-brampton.
