Elmswell Parish Council has partnered with Stroods for a major pub renovation
Elmswell: Exciting news for the village! The Elmswell Tavern is set for a makeover. The parish council has just signed a contract with Stroods Specialist Contractors.
They were chosen after a thorough selection process that looked at 11 different companies. The total cost for the project is £464,293, which is pretty reasonable.
Peter Dow, the parish clerk, is thrilled about the funding. He mentioned that the project will be covered by a £500,000 fund from Mid Suffolk District Council. Talk about a win-win!
They’re aiming to kick things off in March, and Stroods has promised to wrap up the work in about 18 weeks. So, by late summer, we could be enjoying a pint at the tavern again.
Peter said, “The wheels are turning.” He feels confident that Stroods is committed to keeping the project on track. “There will be a pub,” he assured everyone.
He also praised Stroods for their experience, especially since they’ve worked on several Greene King pubs recently. Plus, they have their own workshops, which means they can create a custom bar for the tavern.
Peter believes the village is in a great spot for this project. With a growing population eager for local amenities, the tavern will be a fantastic addition.
He added that the community support is strong, thanks to dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making this happen.
While there are some additional costs not included in the contract, like drainage and parking, the council has around £150,000 extra to help cover those expenses.
