Newcastle: A man named Gordon Glass has been sentenced to two years in prison for his abusive behavior towards his partner. It’s a pretty shocking case.

He started dating the woman in June 2023, and at first, everything seemed fine. But soon, he began asking her to send him pictures of her location, which she didn’t think was a big deal at first.

Things took a dark turn when he started working in Preston. He demanded she send him a picture holding up five fingers to prove she was home. Can you imagine that kind of control?

While she was at work, he wanted constant updates, including time-stamped photos. If she took too long to reply, he would get verbally abusive. It’s just awful how he isolated her from friends and made her feel trapped.

By June, she was so scared that she allowed him to track her phone. One day, when she went to visit a friend who had a baby, he demanded proof of where she was. When she sent a picture, he got angry over how the baby looked. It’s just insane.

Glass would also check her social media and wanted to know who she was messaging. One night, he got furious over deleted messages and showed up at her house, banging on the door and shouting. It’s terrifying to think about.

He even tried to crawl through her window when he realized her ex-partner was there. Out of fear, she drove him to McDonald’s, where he threatened her if she didn’t hand over her phone. He found a message from a male friend and lost it, demanding she drive to the guy’s house.

On the way, he was verbally abusive and even spat in her face. He smashed her phone and tried to take control of the car, threatening her life. Thankfully, she spotted a police officer and managed to get help.

In her victim impact statement, she shared how this experience changed her life. She struggles with anxiety and feels like she’s constantly looking over her shoulder. It’s heartbreaking to hear how deeply this affected her mental health.

Glass, who has a history of convictions, admitted to his crimes and was sentenced to two years in prison. His lawyer claimed he feels remorseful and wants to change, but it’s hard to see how he can truly understand the pain he caused.

This case is a stark reminder of how controlling behavior can escalate into something much worse. Let’s hope the victim finds the strength to heal and move forward.
