Ami Wynn and Peter Gordon face consequences after witnesses intervene in dog abuse case
Brockenhurst: So, there was this really upsetting incident involving a couple and their poor dachshund, Spike. They were caught on a riverbank near the Balmer Lawn Hotel, and it was pretty shocking.
Witnesses saw Ami Wynn and Peter Gordon arguing and, unfortunately, taking it out on Spike. They were throwing him around and hitting him, which is just awful. People nearby couldn’t just stand by and watch, so they stepped in to help.
The RSPCA got involved, and it turned out that the couple was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to Spike. They’ve been banned from having dogs for five years, which is a good thing.
It all happened on June 12, 2023. Witnesses reported that Wynn was pinning Spike down and hitting him, which made him squeal. Then she threw him towards a bush! Can you believe that?
Gordon wasn’t any better; he dragged Spike on his lead and tossed him at Wynn. It was a mess, and thankfully, some brave folks took Spike away from them and called the police.
A vet later confirmed that Spike had suffered both physically and mentally from the abuse. It’s heartbreaking to think about what he went through.
In their defense, they claimed alcohol was involved, but that doesn’t excuse their actions. They each got a community order and a fine, which seems fair given the circumstances.
At least Spike has found a new home now, and the RSPCA inspector praised the witnesses for stepping up. It’s nice to see people looking out for animals in need.
Animals deserve kindness, and it’s sad that Spike didn’t get that when he needed it most.
