A tax raid on a politician’s home in India uncovered three crocodiles in a pond
Sagar: So, get this! Indian tax officials were raiding a former lawmaker’s house in Madhya Pradesh and stumbled upon three crocodiles chilling in a pond. Can you believe it?
The crocodiles were found on the property of Harvansh Singh Rathore, who used to be a member of the state assembly for the ruling BJP. Talk about a wild discovery!
During the three-day raid, they also found a whopping 14 kg of gold, nearly Rs 30 million in cash, and a bunch of fancy cars. It sounds like a treasure hunt gone wrong!
Rathore, who got elected back in 2013, is in hot water now. The raid happened after some complaints about his business dealings related to ‘bidi’, which is basically a local hand-rolled cigarette.
He claimed he had permission to keep the crocodiles, but keeping them as pets is actually illegal in India. The forest department is now looking into it, so he might be in for some trouble.
Oh, and just a few days ago, a Canadian guy got caught at the Delhi airport with a crocodile skull in his luggage. What’s with all the crocodile drama lately?
Customs officials found the skull during a routine check, and it weighed about 777 grams. The guy got arrested for breaking India’s Wildlife Protection Act. Yikes!
And if that’s not enough, back in September, two people were caught trying to smuggle baby Caiman crocodiles at the Mumbai airport. They hid them in toothpaste boxes! Seriously, what were they thinking?
