Miami: So, there’s been a big update for cruise passengers about phone chargers. If you’re planning a trip, listen up! Royal Caribbean just announced a ban on certain chargers, and it’s caught a lot of folks off guard.
A popular cruise YouTuber, Jason from Travel Scouts, shared the news. He mentioned that the big surprise is the ban on non-surge protected power strips and multi-plug outlets. These have been allowed for ages, especially since older ships often don’t have enough outlets.
It’s a bit puzzling why they made this change now. Jason pointed out that some new ships had power issues recently, which might be related. But still, it’s unclear why they decided to enforce this ban.
For those cruising with other lines, you’re in luck! You can still bring non-surge protected multi-plug outlets. But if you’re with Royal Caribbean, you’ll need to stick to USB port devices only.
Royal Caribbean Blog also chimed in, warning that power strips and extension cords can be risky on ships. If they overload, they could cause serious electrical damage or even start a fire.
