A Crystal Palace supporter died after being struck by a bus while fleeing a confrontation in South London
Brixton: A tragic incident unfolded when Liam Foley, a 28-year-old Crystal Palace fan, was chased onto a busy road and hit by a bus. This happened just days after he celebrated his team’s victory over Leicester City.
On that fateful night, Liam had been out with his brother and a friend. Things took a turn when he got into a scuffle outside KFC, leading to him running across Brixton Road. Unfortunately, he didn’t see the bus coming.
The bus driver had barely any time to react, and the impact was severe. Liam was rushed to King’s College Hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries three days later.
Before the incident, Liam and his friends had been kicked out of a local venue for vaping. They tried to get their entry fee back but ended up leaving after police got involved. They then went for drinks and a late-night snack, which led to the altercation outside KFC.
Witnesses said that after Liam punched someone, he ran away, and two others chased him. It’s still unclear what sparked the fight, but it escalated quickly.
Despite the bus driver exceeding the speed limit, he was treated as a witness, and no charges were filed against those who chased Liam. The police confirmed that Liam’s death was ruled as a road traffic collision.
Liam’s father expressed his grief, saying he felt a duty to be there for his son in his final moments. He thanked everyone who tried to help Liam that night and shared how much Liam was loved by his family and friends.
In a touching act, Liam donated his organs, saving four lives. His girlfriend, Josephine, also honored his memory by running the London Marathon and raising significant funds for charity.
