Will Horsley, a talented young farmer, is set to judge at the Dairy Expo in Carlisle
Carlisle: Will Horsley, just 28, is making waves in the dairy world. He’s part of the judging panel for the Borderway UK Dairy Expo happening on March 14 and 15. Will works on his family farm, which has 250 cows under the Woodcatt name.
This guy knows his stuff! He’s won the showmanship class at the All Britain Calf Show seven times. Plus, he’s been named Champion Handler at the UK Dairy Expo. Talk about impressive!
Will is also on the Holstein UK National Judges Panel. He’s judged shows all over the UK, including the Royal Highland Show in 2024. So, he’s definitely got the experience.
He’s not alone, though. Other judges include Andrea Debenham from Suffolk for the British Friesian classes, and John McLean from Northern Ireland for the Dairy Shorthorns. There’s also Andrew Kennedy from County Antrim for the Jerseys.
Glyn Lucas, the dairy sales manager and Dairy Expo organizer, mentioned that this year’s judges are the future stars of the UK dairy scene. It’s exciting to see home-grown talent taking the lead!
Glyn added that many judges have been part of the Expo since it started in 2012. Together, they’ve owned or prepared 62 class winners, including 18 Grand Champions. That’s a lot of talent in one room!
