After months of hard work, the Cumnock Factory Outlet is back open, welcoming eager customers to explore its fresh new look and offerings
Cumnock: The Cumnock Factory Outlet had to shut its doors back in July 2023 after a fire caused serious damage. It was a tough time for everyone involved.
Fast forward to now, and the place is finally back in action! After a lot of hard work, locals were welcomed back on January 23, 2025, and you could feel the excitement in the air.
The café area got a complete makeover. Everything was replaced due to the fire and smoke damage, and now it looks modern and inviting. James Broughton, who runs the factory with his brother, remembers that awful night when he got the call about the fire.
He rushed over from Nottinghamshire to see the damage, and it was heartbreaking. The café was completely destroyed, and they had to start from scratch.
It took about ten months before they could even begin the refurbishment. James shared that the delay was frustrating, especially since the fire happened in July 2023, but they finally got things rolling by the end of May 2024.
They made sure to hire local tradespeople for the work, and the staff stayed on during the downtime, which was great for everyone involved.
When the shop finally opened, there was a line of eager customers waiting to get in. Ali and Michael from West FM were there for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the energy was electric!
James felt a wave of happiness seeing the community’s support. People were genuinely excited to be back, and it was heartwarming to see how much they missed the place.
He even had folks offering help, which really showed how invested the community is. It was a proud moment for him and the team, and they’re thrilled to be back serving everyone.
