A father who renovated a dangerous home is now selling it as he seeks new adventures
New Brighton: A dad named Steve Kisby has put his once-dangerous home back on the market. He turned it from a “death trap” into a lovely family space, but now he’s ready for a new adventure.
Steve and his wife, Sally, moved to New Brighton six years ago. They fell in love with the area while visiting Steve’s sister. They bought a seafront property that needed a lot of work. Steve, a builder, was up for the challenge.
When they first got the house, it was pretty scary. Steve lived there alone for eight months because it wasn’t safe for his family. He recalls being afraid to take a bath because the floor might give way. The electrics were a mess, but the view was stunning.
He said it was a £50k house with a £200k view, which is what sold them on it. After years of hard work, the house became a beautiful home. Sadly, they’re selling it now because their kids have moved out, and they feel a bit too far from them.
Steve recently found a new project—a detached old courthouse from 1865. He’s excited about the idea of converting it back into a home. It seems like he’s ready to tackle another challenge, even if it means saying goodbye to the place he worked so hard to renovate.
