Cullompton Town Council aims to revamp Upcott Field for families and nature lovers
Cullompton: The town council is really stepping up to make its parks better. They’ve just spruced up Tufty Park, which is right by Willowbank Primary School, and the kids are loving it.
Now, they’re turning their sights to Upcott Field, next to St Andrew’s Primary School. The goal is to create a fantastic spot for families. They want to put in a path so everyone can enjoy the park, whether it’s for a stroll, some fresh air, or just hanging out.
They’re planning to add new play equipment, a trim trail, a youth area, a nature spot, and plenty of seating. It sounds like they want to make it a place where everyone can have fun.
The council has set aside £100,000 for these upgrades. But with a decent climbing frame costing around £15,000, plus delivery and safety surfacing, they know they’ll need more help. So, they’re reaching out to the community for support.
So far, they’ve had a community tree planting day, and kids from St Andrew’s Primary have planted 105 young native trees along the hedge. This will attract birds and other wildlife, making it a great spot for nature lovers. More improvements are on the way for spring.
