A Dewsbury man threatened a shop worker with scissors during a robbery before targeting another store the next day
Dewsbury: A guy named Steven Lynn had a pretty wild couple of days. He walked into a shop with scissors and scared the life out of a worker. This all went down in November last year.
So, on November 5, he first hit up a Costcutter store. The staff had noticed him earlier that day, and when he came back, he was all hooded up and looking suspicious. The CCTV footage showed him waving those scissors around, demanding cash.
He managed to grab a till with just £18.50 in it. But that wasn’t enough for him. The very next day, he tried his luck again at a Nisa store. This time, he was let in by a worker who had no idea what was coming.
Wearing the same clothes, he jumped over the counter and demanded the till. But he couldn’t get it open, so he just grabbed some cash from a shelf instead. He made off with between £560 and £580, leaving the worker terrified.
When the police caught up with him, they found out he had a long history of trouble with the law, including 52 previous offenses. He was already on license for other serious crimes when he pulled these robberies.
In court, his lawyer said he had a tough childhood and turned to drugs and alcohol to cope. Now, at 38, he claims he’s ready to change his ways. He’s even trying to get his life back on track while in jail.
In the end, the judge sentenced him to four years behind bars. It’s a tough lesson, but hopefully, he’ll find a better path when he gets out.
