He died at home on Friday, and they’re looking into what happened. Baena was known for his work on films like Life After Beth and The Little Hours, which he made with Plaza. They tied the knot in 2021 after being together for over ten years.
He also directed the thriller Horse Girl, starring Alison Brie, and was behind the comedy I Heart Huckabees, which had a star-studded cast. Baena even created the anthology series Cinema Toast, where Plaza directed an episode.
Aubrey Plaza, who became a household name from Parks and Recreation, was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in HBO’s White Lotus. She’s got a busy year ahead with several films lined up, including Megalopolis and My Old Ass.
