A DJ in New York narrowly escaped death after being pushed onto subway tracks, suffering serious injuries but expected to recover.
New York: A DJ had a close call when he was pushed onto the subway tracks. Joseph Lynskey, 45, was just inches away from a moving train on New Year’s Eve.
Originally from Miami, he’s now recovering in the hospital and has been able to chat with his family about his incredible survival story.
He was at the 18th Street subway station when a man in a dark coat suddenly shoved him. Luckily, he fell beside the train instead of directly under it, which saved his life.
Joseph ended up with a ruptured spleen, four broken ribs, and a fractured skull. His sister, Eileen, expressed gratitude that he’s alive and said their main focus is supporting him.
His brother, Christopher, reassured everyone that Joseph is doing okay, just a bit banged up, but he’s expected to make a full recovery.
A shocking video captured the moment of the attack, showing Joseph standing on the platform when the assailant rushed past him.
Emergency responders quickly arrived to help him and got him to the hospital. Meanwhile, Kamel Hawkins, the 23-year-old suspect, has been charged with attempted murder and multiple counts of assault.
Hawkins was arraigned and will remain in custody until his next court date. He has a history of criminal behavior, including past assault charges.
His father mentioned that Kamel has been acting strangely lately, hinting at possible mental health issues.
This incident is reminiscent of a previous case where a woman survived a similar attack at Times Square in 2021. It’s a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk in public spaces.
