A double arson incident in Birmingham raises concerns after a recent shooting, prompting police investigations and community fears
Stechford: A property on Albert Road was hit by a New Year’s Day arson attack, just days after a car was set on fire there. This comes weeks after a shooting incident at the same location.
Witnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the house following the fire. The first incident involved a car being torched outside the home on December 29, just before 10 PM.
Then, in the early hours of January 1, the house itself was damaged in another fire. BirminghamLive had previously reported gunshots fired at this property on December 7.
An eyewitness, who wanted to stay anonymous, mentioned that the house was surrounded by fire tape, with shattered windows and debris everywhere. It sounded pretty chaotic.
West Midlands Police are on the case, looking into these arson attacks and their connection to the earlier shooting. They’re increasing police presence in the area and are asking anyone with information to step forward.
A police spokesperson said they were called to the street after the car fire and later found the house had also been targeted. Thankfully, no one has been hurt in any of these incidents.
They’re reviewing CCTV footage and are determined to find out who’s behind this. The police want to reassure the community and encourage anyone with tips to contact them.
