Motorists in Essex faced car troubles after filling up with contaminated fuel from a local petrol station, prompting an investigation.
Rayleigh: It was a rough day for drivers at a BP station in Essex. Many cars just stopped working after filling up with what turned out to be contaminated fuel.
People were just trying to fill their tanks, and suddenly, they found themselves stranded. Can you imagine? One moment you’re good to go, and the next, you’re stuck on the side of the road.
Recovery teams were busy, with one firm saying they got called out to about 30 incidents. That’s a lot of unhappy drivers! The garage had to shut down for a bit to sort things out.
BP confirmed that there was an issue with a contaminated tank and said they’re looking into it. They’ve isolated the affected tank, and the station is back open now, but it’s been a hassle for everyone involved.
If you filled up there and are having problems, BP has a support team ready to help. Just reach out to them. Thankfully, it seems like only this one station was affected, so that’s a relief for others.
